Too many old restaurants in Hong Kong had closed in 2016.
Shun Hing Restaurant (信興酒樓) is one of the oldest restaurants in Hong Kong which had been closed in 30th December, 2016.
It had stood in Sham Shui Po for 80 years. The big neon light signboards of the restaurant were once a signature in Sham Shui Po area, however, one of the signboards has been removed recently due to safety reasons. As the restaurant is too old too be refurbished to meet the safety standard, the owners decided to close the restaurant permanently on the restaurant's 80th anniversary.
Chairs, tables and utensils in the restaurants had been used for more than 60 years and will be kept in museums. Let's hope 2017 to be a year where Hong Kong's local culture and value can be kept and passed on.
